The Descendents was a Lifetime movie from the perspective of a man. Pure melodrama without any standout performances. Didn’t bring anything new to the table, just like The King’s Speech. You could argue that both were decent movies, but they didn’t change a goddamned thing. Which is why the Academy loves them, obviously.
